About the Band:
Since May of 2001, the McDailey trio has been entertaining audiences at festivals and concerts throughout the west, with their own brand of “roots” style traditional music, drawing from bluegrass, old time and old country musical genres’. Their instrumentation consists of guitar, mandolin and acoustic upright bass, featuring vocal duets and trios. Recently, the trio met fiddle player “extraordinare” , Paul Kiteck of Longmont, and the resulting collaboration has infused their sound with a new and exciting rhythmic dimension.

The McDailey’s have a sense of fun and love for the music that is captured in their performances. The McDailey’s are based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Their selection of material includes songs from the early days of radio in the 1940’ and 50’s, as well as modern day folk and bluegrass tunes. They also write songs. One of Willies favorite stage jokes is: “we like to play songs from the 50’ s and 60’ s, the 1850’ s and 60’s”.

Willie McDonald

Willie McDonald (guitar and vocals) is perhaps best known as the mandolin player in the Bluegrass Patriots, a popular Fort Collins based, traditional bluegrass band that has been together for over 30 years.
Willie is a published songwriter. The Patriots have recorded eight CDs and have toured extensively in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In the McDailey Experiment, Willie is featured as the guitar player and front man. His dynamic solo playing, his lead and baritone singing, combined with his unique sense of humor, are a driving force in the band.

Susan Dailey

Susan Dailey (mandolin and vocals) has performed in many area bluegrass bands, over the years, including; Darkhorse, which went on a Department of Defense (USO) tour to the Pacific. Susan currently teaches beginning mandolin at Front Range Community College in Ft. Collins. Her style of playing is steeped in bluegrass tradition. She is known for her high lonesome harmony singing and is also featured on some of the lead vocals.

Ami Anderson

Amy Anderson (acoustic upright bass and vocals) provides the steady rhythmic beat for the McDailey’s and is also a talented harmony singer and sings some lead vocals as well. Amy is a founding member of the T Band that has been entertaining audiences in the Northern Colorado area for many years. She is equally adept at old-time and bluegrass styles, and is a much sought after bass player in the Fort Collins area.

Paul Kiteck

Paul Kiteck (fiddle, bass vocals), a sound acoustics engineer by trade. Paul is an experienced and talented fiddler, who started playing at age 9. He has performed with groups from Colorado (Including the Bluegrass Patriots in the 1980’s) to North Carolina to Texas, and was a member of the Lonestar Bluegrass Band in Houston, Texas for over 10 years. He has recorded for Flying Fish Records, Lonestar Records, Don Sanders and Sugar Bayou (an Austin, TX eclectic & original music band).
