Rustic Cabin

Size of original painting: 20” x 26”

This is one of the historic “rustic” cabins built in the 1920’s. A few are still dotted around the YMCA grounds (they have been updated since the 1920’s). The cabin is placed under the symbol for the YMCA – Mt. Ypsilon. The YMCA’s founding fathers hiked 18 miles from Grand Lake in 1907, looking for a place to hold their next conference. They saw the snowfield shaped like a Y and took this as a “sign from God” that this was to be the future home of the YMCA conference center. They were lucky that the Wind River Ranch was for sale.
